ACSOM Live with Alan Thompson and John Hartson

The weekend of 28th and 29th April see’s another two heroes of the Seville season head to Grace’s for the latest double-header in A Celtic State of Mind’s ‘Evening with…’ series.

First up on Friday 28th is former midfielder ALAN THOMPSON with Welsh forward JOHN HARTSON appearing the following evening.
Englishman Thompson began his career with local club Newcastle before making a name for himself in a Bolton Wanderers side that contained the likes of John McGinlay, Owen Coyle, and Jason McAteer.

After two years at Aston Villa Thomson made the move to Celtic where he would win 8 major honours, his sole cap for England, and play an important role in the run to Seville.

Thomson had a wand of a left foot that set up countless goals for Henrik Larsson, Chris Sutton, and John Hartson amongst other beneficiaries.

He also had a lovely knack of scoring against Rangers that well and truly endeared him to the Celtic support.

After Thommo sets the weekend up, it is down to ‘Big Bad John’ Hartson to do what he does best and finish it off in style.
The Welshman scored 109 goals in 201 games in the Hoops including vital goals away to Celta Vigo and Liverpool on the run to Seville before injury would deny Hartson a UEFA Cup Final appearance.

Hartson won 5 major honours at Celtic Park including 3 league titles, and scored the goal that clinched the 2005/06 league title against Hearts on his 31st birthday.

After leaving the club at the end of the 2005/06 season and the end of playing career in February 2008, Hartson has remained a Celtic fan and proudly wears his Celtic colours (and tattoo) on his sleeve.
