The band who wrote a song for A Celtic State of Mind have now had over a million hits

Ace City Racers were described by Clash Magazine as “Glasgow newcomers with guitar pop zest…” when they burst on to the scene with their Stephen Street-produced debut single Waiting back in 2015.

Street famously produced Blur’s second single There’s No Other Way as well as albums Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife, The Great Escape, Blur and The Magic Whip, so his collaboration with Ace City Racers made the industry stand up and take notice of the band’s jangular, short, sharp, sexy pop songs.

Waiting was released via Fred Perry and Alcopop Records and none other than Johnny Marr gave the single his seal of approval. Their debut album Take It It’s Yours followed in October 2017, with the lead single 21 C Sights being premiered on Clash Magazine’s website, which described it as, “Sounds like Roxy Music migrated to London to hang with Soft Boys and Blur. No bad thing I say!”

Ace City Racers, in their previous guise as Juno!, provided A Celtic State of Mind with their intro and outro music – the electro-fused One + One, which was produced by Sci-Fi Steven of 1990s Scottish indie-pop outfit Bis. The track has now been heard more than 1.2 million times on ACSOM and the band appeared on the podcast recently to celebrate their platinum success with an acoustic session, which can be heard here:
