Celtic returned to winning ways midweek against St Mirren and they will be looking to carry that over to this afternoon’s trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County.
Brendan Rodgers is unbeaten when playing against a side managed by Malky MacKay, and given the Staggies are winless in their last seven competitive games, all signs should point to a Celtic victory.
The impact of Celtic’s substitutes on Wednesday evening against St Mirren may throw up a few selection dilemmas for Rodgers heading into this one. Has Yang earned a start? Does Holm replace goalscorer Turnbull? Does a change of shape allow Oh and Kyogo to play together?
GK – Joe Hart
The English stopper has had some relatively quiet games in the last two fixtures, with Hibs rarely troubling the keeper and Conor McMenamin offering Hart no chance of getting on the end of his header. Ross County have scored five goals in the last two games so will be hoping to cause more of a problem for Hart.
RB – Alistair Johnston
Johnston put in a solid performance mid-week and will be looking for more of the same against the Staggies.
CB – Cameron Carter-Vickers
The American missed the mid-week fixture, but it wasn’t due to injury concerns and he will be expected to return to the fold this weekend.
CB – Liam Scales
Scales was one of the standout performers against the Buddies and will be looking to carry on his good form this weekend.
LB – Greg Taylor
Taylor was caught out for St Mirren’s opener on Wednesday, but he grew into the game and will be looking for a more assured all-round display against Ross County.
CM – Matt O’Riley
It was a rare quiet performance from O’Riley on Wednesday, with the substitutes having to provide the creative spark to secure the victory. He has been the most consistent performer this season and he will be expected to be back to his best on Saturday.
CM – Callum McGregor
The captain was the best player on the park against St Mirren, often proving to be the player who can take control of a game when the team isn’t at their best.
CM – Odin Thiago Holm
Holm provided the creative spark needed to carve open the Buddies defence on Wednesday, shimmying past the defence before playing in Oh for the winning goal. Rodgers seems to be rotating the midfield to fill the void left by Hatate and Holm may get the opportunity this weekend.
RW – Daizen Maeda
Maeda was given a rest against St Mirren after looking leggy against Hibs, and will be expected to return to the fold this weekend.
ST – Kyogo Furuhashi
Kyogo will be looking to get back on the scoresheet after going two games without a goal, something that is something of a rarity in his time at Celtic.
LW – Luis Palma
Palma was constantly testing Hemmings on Wednesday evening and was surprisingly substituted by Brendan Rodgers despite looking threatening. Despite Yang’s strong display at the weekend, expect the Honduran to keep his place in Dingwall.
