ROY AITKEN joined A Celtic State of Mind recently for a live event like no other at Barras Art & Design in Glasgow, and fans flocked to meet the centenary double-winning captain.
The Bear joined Paul John Dykes on-stage to discuss his 15-year Celtic career, which included some incredible achievements under managers Jock Stein, Davie Hay and Billy McNeill.
Having made his debut at just 16, Roy went on to be nicknamed ‘The Bear’ by the Celtic faithful, who would often chant “Feed The Bear!” from the famous Jungle terracing.
Roy won a double in 1977 under Jock Stein, was part of the famous night when 10 men won the league under Billy McNeill, played a huge part in winning the 100th Scottish Cup final against Dundee United under Davie Hay, and captained Billy McNeill’s Celtic to a centenary double in 1988.
Roy Aitken is a legendary Celtic figure, and this sold-out evening at Barras Art & Design was a great opportunity to spend some time in the company of a bonafide Celtic legend.
The Icon team were on-hand to capture some stunning images of the night:
Roy’s event was the latest in a series that ACSOM is hosting in Glasgow throughout 2023, which has seen us joined by Celtic legends Brian McClair, Tom Boyd, Peter Grant, Alan Thompson, Jackie McNamara, Martin O’Neill, John Hartson and Gordon Strachan.
