Transfer Deadline Day with A Celtic State of Mind – Celtic’s most important transfers 2017 – 2019

Most important signing 2017/18 – Odsonne Édouard

Where would we be without him? What if we didn’t convert his loan into a permanent move?

He always had something. You could see that there was room to develop and grow. Boy, has he done it. From those foal-like steps in Moussa Dembele’s shadow to one that has us wondering if he is better than his mentor. Goals in cup finals, Europe and derby games are only part of the story. His all-round game now sees him as the perfect modern-day frontman.

He can link up play, bully defenders, make space where there is none, is cool in front of goal, cool with his back to goal and has a game intelligence that is mensa certifiable.

The money we paid has been paid back. His goal that sealed the Treble Treble was the finish of a man comfortable with his own ability and unknowing of his potential.

We all wanna be Édouard 🍋

Most important signing 2018/19 – Christopher Jullien

It’s easy to pick the most expensive signing of the window as the one with the most potential and excitement. But, when you look at the players we have lost in our defence – the character, the leadership and experience – it’s the one area where we had to get our recruitment right.

Some would say he has had a shaky start. The important games come fast for Celtic and settling-in time is not afforded, which means judgements are rushed. In the last two games, he has shown all the qualities that highlighted him to English scouts.

Commanding, dominant and possessing leadership qualities. You get the impression that he would header a pavement slab if needed. You get the impression that instead of telling his teammates what he expects, he shows them. He seems to have got ‘us’ extremely quickly and looks well-liked by the established players. The jersey doesn’t seem too big for him now. It looks extremely promising on him.
