RECORD SETS DATE FOR RANGERS TAKEOVER, CELTIC FANS KNOW THE SCRIPT

Like a dog on heat that just won’t let go of its owner’s leg, Keith Jackson and the Daily Record continue to push the same narrative around the Rangers Takeover.
Despite nothing of any note happening on the Takeover front for a couple of weeks now, Jackson and company continue to double down on the story they created.

Rangers Takeover, “Should be Done” By Months End, This Celtic Fan is Skeptical
In yet another case of putting two and two together and coming up with 1690, Jackson insists in an article published today, that the decision to call a fans’ meeting for April 23rd is a key indicator that Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart is getting ready to announce the completion of the takeover.
This timeline doesn’t work on a number of levels.
A timely reminder here, no-one has even declared a formal interest in acquiring Rangers yet.
Additionally, any company, especially a company with as brief and as “eventful” a financial history as the first 13 years of this new Rangers, would have to go through months of due diligence in order for this supposed deal to go through.
What’s far more likely is that the meeting on April 23rd will probably be another case of the current board saying “give us money, gonnae, please”.
Personally, my first question for the bold Paddy would be “if this multi-million takeover is imminent, who was the person who dumped all 100,000 of those precious Rangers shares the other day for 3.5p a go?”

Again, we are talking about a business that has already mortgaged future transfer revenues with a lender of last resort to free up enough money to continue operating.
The biggest announcement on April 23rd is most likely to be the confirmation (not the word he would choose, I’m sure) of Barry Ferguson as the new Rangers manager.
He ticks all the right boxes for the board. He’s cheap, he managed to beat Celtic (in an ultimately meaningless game).
He’s “staunch”, whatever that means, and most importantly he has more fan goodwill than any manager who isn’t considered by the natives to be a “Rangers man” would be afforded.
Celtic will, hopefully, have the league won by the time this meeting comes around, so distraction will be the name of the game.
Expect lots of empty promises and lots more fantastical fables from the Daily Record and the rest of Ibrox’s gaggle of useful idiots in the press.
I’ll continue to do my best to debunk it all, but even my own, finely tuned BS filter has a daily limit.
And remember, Rangers as a business is a distressed asset. Even if this takeover does eventually go through, it will take a lot longer than a few more weeks.
It will not be anything like the kind of money Rangers need to draw level with Celtic.
Such investment wouldn’t just be financially suicidal for those investing, it would also contravene UEFA financial regulations.
The 49ers connection to all this, based on the current available information, is entirely manufactured by The Daily Record.
Andrew Cavenagh has no official connection with the 49ers or their affiliates. He does however, like money.
He’s a vulture capitalist. And the carcass of a club that is Rangers might have some bones worth picking at for someone like him. But is it worth the risk, and the huge initial financial outlay required?
I still don't think so.
