RANGERS TAKEOVER: JACKSON REITERATES: “HONEST MATE, IT'S STILL HAPPENING, TRUST ME”

The latest twists and turns in the Rangers Takeover Saga read like a story so many Celtic fans have heard before.
Though, much like “The Rangers” themselves, there’s still no confirmed date as to when these American sugar daddies with their millions of dollars’ worth of free money are actually coming.
Rangers Takeover Deal Still no Closer, As Daily Record’s Self-Imposed Deadline Approaches
In an utterly cringeworthy exchange on the latest edition of the Record Hotline (an idea they didn’t steal from Radio Clyde, honest), when asked directly about an update on his now two month old “exclusive” on the “imminent” Rangers Takeover, Keith Jackson shrugged his shoulders and gave an entirely predictable response.
He said: “It’s disappeared down a legal rabbit hole.”
To you and I, indeed anyone with a functioning brainstem, that’s simply how due diligence works.
Funnily enough, had the Daily Record actually done their own due diligence on this sideshow of a story before letting Jackson run it and award himself a victory lap maybe they wouldn’t be in this awkward position now.

And yet, here Jackson and the Record are, backtracking at a speed faster than a Rangers Scottish Cup exit.
Jackson’s next words are very telling for anyone willing to listen beyond just what they want to hear. He continued: “Based on what I’ve been told, the deal is still moving forward.
“As far as I know, all parties want it concluded by the end of April”.
Notice how he qualifies these statements. “Based on what I’ve been told,” and “As far as I know”. This is the language of uncertainty.
These are words of hope rather than expectation. This is also Jackson thinking he’s being smart, by laying the groundwork to turn around and say “not my fault, guv” if the whole deal collapses.
Yet again, Jackson offers no evidence whatsoever to back up any of his claims, apart from his usual “trust me mate.”
I would hope, for the sake of their sanity, that most Rangers fans are smart enough not to be taken in by this myth-peddler like they were in 2012.
Unfortunately, intelligence isn’t something the Ibrox hoardes are noted for. At least not for the time being, anyway.
Maybe if, someday, “hooliganism and inbreeding” becomes an acceptable topic on Mastermind, one of them may get a chance to show off that intellect that’s been so expertly concealed all this time.
Back on topic.
As I’ve said before, some kind of investment could well happen at Rangers, but the level of debt, the dilution of the share value, the acrimonious relationships between many of the current shareholders, and a host of other factors mean that any investment was always going to be a very long, very difficult process.
Meanwhile, with every instance of intolerance, every song of hate sung, and every act of aggression their fans commit, Rangers make themselves less and less of an attractive investment to any buyer.
Also, if Jackson is so sure that this “transformative” investment in Rangers is still imminent, why did he choose yesterday to start a campaign for Barry Ferguson to be Rangers’ next permanent manager?
If new owners come in, surely Ferguson and the Rest of the EBT Team will be the first ones to get their P-45s, or whatever the American equivalent is.
Jackson knows all is not well behind the scenes. He knows that this takeover is either going to be massively downgraded from his initial promises, or it may not happen at all.
As usual, its all a distraction, on the week when Celtic could still win the league.
