KEITH JACKSON FINALLY SAYS SOMETHING MOST CELTIC FANS WILL AGREE WITH

These truly are bizarre times we live in.
As Celtic’s on the pitch performances frequently shift between the sublime and the ridiculous, The Daily Record today began its, almost annual, campaign to get “their man” installed as the new Rangers manager.
According to the Record’s own excrement-in-chief Keith Jackson, that man is Barry Ferguson.
I certainly hope so, as most Celtic fans will.

Yes, Jackson has, somehow, manage to further damage his already useless reputation as a sports pundit, with this latest bit of sycophantic desperation.
While things remain quiet on the Rangers takeover that Jackson claims are “inevitable” he’s now suddenly decided that the “mastermind” behind 5 successive home defeats for Rangers is the man the club needs at the helm now more than ever.
What was it Napoleon said again?
I think it was something like: “Don’t interrupt your enemy while he’s making a massive mistake.” Or words to that effect.
I’d say we have a textbook case of that here, but that’s assuming we can find enough Rangers fans capable of reading a textbook.
Jackson opens his article by saying “trust me, when I tell you about Barry Ferguson”.

Aye, sure Keith, just like we trusted you when you said Craig Whyte had “off the radar wealth” or “Ibrox was going to turn into a 5-star resort with its own floating pitch, or the various other prominent examples of utter horsesh*t you’ve tried to pass off as “exclusives” down the years.
As usual with Jackson though, he isn’t doing this out of kindness, or even gullibility. There are very specific reasons why he would write an editorial like this, on a day like today.
We all know that Rangers Chief Executive Patrick Stewart (Paddy to his friends), is planning a meet and greet (mostly greeting because Celtic will hopefully have won the league by then) event with Rangers supporters.
Jackson postulated last week that this meeting could be the big day that the takeover is confirmed.
I on the other said, said it was more likely to be the day that Rangers confirm Ned Lasso and his team of belligerents as Rangers new, permanent management team.
The timing of this editorial would suggest I’m onto something. Why does Jackson suddenly go quiet on the takeover, whilst at the same time jumping on the “Bazball” bandwagon?
Ferguson would be a cheap option; he would also be a good way to manage expectations.
As I already said last week, even if Andrew Cavenagh does end up assuming control of Rangers, the 49ers will not have any financial involvement. There is no sugar daddy coming to put Rangers back where their deluded, entitled fanbase think they belong.
And amongst the ranks of the uber-staunch brigade, Ferguson will get a lot more time and be allowed a lot more failure than any foreigner who isn’t a “Rangers man” would.
Let’s not kid ourselves, the Celtic board tried something similar with Neil Lennon back in 2020.
They persisted with a system and a manger that wasn’t working out, and were able to do so based on the considerable goodwill Neil Lennon had built up as a player, manager, and media defender of Celtic over the years.
Thankfully, today, the nightmare of 2020 is a distant memory for most Celtic fans. And I think most reasonable fans realize now that what happened then wasn’t Neil Lennon’s fault.
Will Ferguson be afforded the same benefit of the doubt by the Rangers hardcore in the years ahead. I doubt it. Most of them could barely spell compassion let alone display it publicly.
In the meantime, Keith Jackson can continue his crusade until his heart’s content. We all know it would be a massive mistake for Rangers to make someone so unqualified their permanent boss. And deep down, so does Jackson.
In the meantime, Celtic have a championship to win. Then, we can go to Ibrox and have a good old laugh at Bazza and co.
