Well, I don’t like saying I told you so, but I did indeed predict this would happen more than a week ago.

The SFA have let Vaclav Cerny off with a stern talking to after he sprayed water at Celtic fans at the end of last month’s Glasgow derby.

So, no fine, no ban, not even ten minutes on the naughty step. Are we really surprised?

SFA Inaction Reminds us Celtic Can’t Let up Despite Ref Removal

Whilst, I along with many of you, I’m sure, welcomed the removal of Alan Muir, finally, yesterday from overseeing Celtic matches in any capacity, this latest blunder by officials reminds us that the majority of our work is still in front of us.

If Rangers players still feel like they can come to Celtic Park and act like petulant children, with no comeback whatsoever, then nothing has been learned from this whole, totally unacceptable incident.

Still, at least it gives Rangers fans something to celebrate, besides their cousin’s pregnancy test coming back negative.

Jokes aside though, this is yet another embarrassing episode for Scottish football’s clown show of officialdom.

Cerny needed to be made an exampled of.

However, like so many poorly behaved men in royal blue shirts before him, this inaction actively encourages future instances of this kind of behavior.

The media will continue to play it down as a pantomime. They will continue to treat the entire thing as a joke.

The reality is, it could have started a riot. Innocent people could have been seriously hurt, because of one man’s childish and irresponsible actions. That they weren’t is more down to luck than anything else.

Meanwhile, as Rangers celebrate their victory in the “skooshy bottle moral victors cup” Celtic have a Championship to win, and a Cup Final place to secure.

Then, we can head to Ibrox and take care of unfinished business.

The next time Rangers or their fans throw any liquids our way, we need to make sure its their own tears.

We don’t just need to win at Ibrox, we need to deliver a message, a reminder to Cerny and the rest of these muppets about who really runs the show in Scottish football now.

I’m not an advocate for corporal punishment, but sometimes childish behavior invites a good skelping. Rangers are long overdue one from Celtic.

We need to remind them of their place.
