A "TEDIOUS TREBLE" BECKONS FOR CELTIC, RANGERS TAKEOVER FALTERS AND THE DAILY RECORD CONTINUE CLUTCHING AT STRAWS

Every year the message is the same, the only difference is the angle of delivery.

Celtic Will Continue Winning Trophies, Whether The Rangers Takeover Happens or Not

Every year, these stories, founded not in reality but in sheer, hopeful fantasy, turn out to be total nonsense.

Much like their beloved reanimated club, they never learn, these journalists just never learn.

Or, more likely, they are aware they are selling a story to Rangers supporters under false pretenses.

They continue to bank on that supporter base’s ongoing desperation and the gullibility it manifests.

As I rather ineloquently put it during a recent ACSOM Bulletin, the Rangers support and their enablers in the media are “clutching at more straws than a self-abusing scarecrow.”

This continued today in the Daily Record.

Taking the concept of “reaching” to whole new levels of ridiculousness, the Record opted to devote an entire story in their sports section to a very simple, and self-congratulatory statement from Leeds United’s chief executive, after the Yorkshire side clinched promotion back to the EPL last weekend.

Why devote an entire story to a club very few people in Scotland give a damn about?

Well, because, apparently, the statement is littered with nuggets of positive, hidden messages for Rangers and their fans, desperate for any hope at all in their bid to catch Celtic when the fabled Rangers Takeover is finally completed.

I think even the late Mystic Meg would look at this level of apparent clairvoyance and say “C'mon guys, you don’t actually believe all this is going to happen, do you?”

A reminder, all of this is predicated on the involvement of Leeds United chief Executive Paraag Marathe, in any proposed takeover of Rangers by American vulture capitalist Andrew Cavenagh,

Marathe and Cavenagh are friends, that much we know. Beyond that, there is no evidence whatsoever that Marathe and the 49ers Enterprises Group which he represents is involved in any proposed takeover.

The entire premise of today’s story in the Record seems to be “this guy, who is mates with the guy who we ‘hope’ might be about to buy a controlling stake in Rangers, said a lot of good things about Leeds United, and nothing about Rangers.

“But we all know he’s secretly talking about Rangers, so those uppity Tims across town may as well just give us next season’s treble now.”

That’s basically it.

That’s the journalistic integrity of this flight of complete fancy.

The only statement from the 49ers in any capacity about Rangers so far, was when the co-owner of the NFL franchise confirmed there would be “no financial crossover” for any potential team the 49ers Group decided to get involved with.

Best Practices and management style are the only elements that would crossover.

That’s coming straight from the guy with the actual money, the one who could buy Rangers tomorrow if he so desired.

But he won’t, because you don’t become a billionaire by investing in distressed assets like Rangers.
