RANGERS TAKEOVER DESPERATION CONTINUES WITH CODE OF CONDUCT

Scotland's Shame wont change, no matter how many times they are asked.
Scotland's Shame wont change, no matter how many times they are asked.

I had to stifle a laugh this morning as I once again trawled the Scottish tabloids for something fresh to debunk. Once again, the newspapers did not fail to disappoint.

According to both The Daily Record and The S*n, Rangers will “engage with supporters in the Ibrox singing section, to establish a code of conduct for the area”.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Upon hearing discussions of “conduct” the average Union Bear probably thought it was about making a rota for who gets to lead the singing of The Sash each week.

Once again, the media tried their very best to frame this as a positive story. Yet another step along the road towards Rangers suddenly becoming “progressive and modern”.

Well, this Celtic fan isn’t buying it, and I’m sure most of you aren’t either.

Another Desperate Ploy to Keep Rangers Takeover Hopes Alive

This is the latest in a long line of pleas from the current board to get the worst elements of their support to shut up, while they try desperately to keep the much-hyped but flailing Rangers Takeover deal from derailing completely.

Again, like most of the recent statements coming out of Ibrox, the statement is, taken at face value, actually not a bad idea.

Personally, I’d like to see Celtic’s leadership talk more with our own fans with regards to what we can and can’t do in and around Celtic Park. However, the emphasis is on talking “with” fans, not “at” them.

It’s a concept the Celtic board has struggled with in recent times, though recent steps show signs of a positive move in the right direction.

I’ve said before though and I’ll say it again, the far right wing dregs who have collected around the extreme elements of the Rangers support, I’m sure to the embarrassment of the many decent Rangers fans I know, have no interest in change.

They have no interest in altering or even slightly moderating their behavior.

Their supremacist attitude and their fascist outlook simply won’t allow any room for compromise. “No surrender” isn’t just a chant to these clowns, it’s a way of life. No matter how self-destructive this attitude is to their club, which they profess to love, they won’t deviate from it.

The S*n and The Daily Record know this, but as usual, they are too cowardly to call out this latest statement from the Rangers board for what it truly is.

It’s yet another very transparent, cynical ploy to score points with their potential American investors, and gloss over the history of hate that taints this team and all who choose to support it.

Like others have said before, and I agree with them, Rangers’ custodians had their best chance to cast off this skin of evil in 2012 when the new club formed.

Instead, they chose to actively cultivate the hatred, reinforcing it with a chronic persecution complex.

That attitude is now so heavily ingrained in elements of The Rangers support, that no number of statements from the board will change it.

Like I said, they don’t want to change, they aren’t interested in change. They would sooner embrace the eternal mediocrity of being second best to Celtic than actually re-evaluate their antiquated view of the world.

And I say, leave them to it. Celtic will move forward, as we always have. What other teams and their fans do, is their problem.

I will not however, stop calling out the cowardice in our mainstream media that continues to fuel this hate and its misplaced notions of supremacy.
