“This is our Lisbon,” pointed out Ellen Mannens, when discussing the book she is writing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dutch football’s first European Cup win.
Ellen is a Dutch journalist, who claims she has an incurable Feyenoord disease. She writes for ‘Hand in Hand’, which is the monthly magazine of the official Feyenoord supporters association ‘De Feijenoorder’. The 1970 European Cup final, the Celtic teddy-bear that still lives in the Feyenoord museum, Wim Jansen and a certain Henrik Larsson are all discussed with Ellen during our fascinating discussion. Thankfully, Colin Kazim-Richards didn’t get a mention.
